Course summary
This is a 1-year, full-time, top-up programme (2 years part-time) for students who already hold the HNC Healthcare Professions' Support. The full 2-year HNC/D is a Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ) that has been designed to address the increasing need for high quality professional and technically skilled staff within the healthcare sector. The course will provide you with the critical skills and practical competencies sought by employers and required for progression to further higher education study. The course will prepare you for a variety of roles within the health and social care sector by covering the knowledge, skills and behaviours within relevant occupational standards, including Integrated Health and Social Care, Healthcare Management, Public Health & Health Promotion, Healthcare and Nursing Assistant Practice. You will need to complete 225 hours of work experience in a healthcare setting for the HND. You will have access to dedicated higher education facilities, e-learning and mixed media resources within the faculty and enjoy visits from guest speakers and employers. You will demonstrate your skills using reflection, presentations, IT and guided research. Assessment is coursework based and you will attend a mixture of lectures, tutorials, demonstrations and student-led seminars. If you do not hold the HNC Healthcare Professions' Support (HP11) you need to apply for that course for September 23, successful completion will enable you to progress to the HND(HTQ) for the 2nd year.
