Course summary

MA Fashion Design Technology Womenswear enables individuals to produce high quality and innovative work through illustration, design, cutting and modern manufacturing. Students are supported to develop collaborations with industry specialists and international fabric suppliers, a process that not only builds important contacts for the future but one that enriches student experience and refines design sensibility. What can you expect? Using diverse production techniques, from couture craftsmanship to futuristic experimentation, students are able to explore their own perspectives to form the basis of their collection; this also has the potential to incorporate a further specialism such as embroidery, knitwear or digital concepts. This course is based at John Prince’s Street, London College of Fashion’s most central site. Located at the heart of Oxford Circus the site has convenient access to every high street shop that London has to offer. The local areas of Marylebone, Mayfair and Soho are home to many of London’s main attractions, points of interest and museums. Modules

Modules include: Creative and technical innovation; research methods; collaborative unit; technical analysis and development; Master’s project.

Assessment method

Assessment is by a technological investigation into new methods with prototypes; or a dissertation on a design-based subject.


Entry requirements

An Honours degree at 2.1 or above in fashion or clothing design and/or production; applicants with a degree in another subject may be considered, depending on the strength of the application; or equivalent qualifications; or relevant and quantitative industrial experience for a minimum of 3 years; interview. Applicants selected for interview will be asked to bring a portfolio of previous work, including developmental work where possible, and two womenswear garments they have made to evidence their skills. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in any 1 skill.
