Our Sports Management degree course will give you the practical skills to make the most of business opportunities in this exciting sector. Sports Management offers a wide variety of employment opportunities, from working for national governing bodies or managing leisure facilities and sports events to sports marketing and commercial development. Our course features distinct learning pathways to ensure you gain the range of skills vital for success in your preferred career, from football scouting or sports analysis to social media management and more. Supported by cutting-edge facilities, our course lets you put learning into practice through residential visits and an optional paid 48-week placement. FACILITIES Students on our sports courses have access to a wide range of excellent facilities. Our Human Performance Centre features the latest equipment including a 35m sprint track, eight lifting platforms, 7m rig and large screens displaying live analysis data. We also have a purpose-built Human Performance Laboratory which hosts an anti-gravity treadmill, isokinetic dynamometer, Monark LC7 cycle ergometer and SECA body composition analyser. Our sports clinics on campus are open to the public, enabling students to put training into practice treating and assessing patients. We also share the impressive £3m Avery Fields complex with Bournville RFC, offering an all-weather pitch, two grass pitches and a clubhouse with function room. ACCREDITATIONS AND PARTNERSHIPS This course is accredited by the DMI and CIMSPA. PLACEMENTS Our course features an optional 48-week paid placement, during which you will not incur any tuition fees. Additional opportunities for work experience are also available throughout your studies. Employers we have worked with include Birmingham City FC, Shrewsbury Town FC, Wolverhampton Speedway, Aston Villa Ladies FC, League Managers Association, Sport4Life, Anytime Fitness Edgbaston, The Pumphouse Gym, Tempest Executives and The Clubhouse (Solihull). Transferring from another university At University College Birmingham, we consider applications from students who have studied, or are currently studying, a Higher Education course and now wish to transfer universities. What do I need to do? Where similar study is apparent, it may be possible for us to award Recognition of Previous Learning (RPL) and, therefore, advanced entry onto a course at UCB will be permitted. Please note; due to the nature of this process, all applications are considered on an individual basis.

International applicants

Additional fee information

UK: If you are a UK student enrolling on a Foundation Degree or a BA/BSc at University College Birmingham in 2021/22, your fee for this academic year will be £9,250. A half year tuition fee is £4625. This is a yearly fee, and will increase with inflation in subsequent years (in line with the government’s permitted rise). If you are an English student studying your first higher education qualification, you can apply for a tuition fee loan from the Student Loans Company. You will not start repaying this loan until you leave the course and are earning over £25,000 a year. If you live in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, you should apply to Student Finance Wales, Student Finance Northern Ireland, or SAAS. The loans and grants available to you will differ from those available from Student Finance England. UCB does not charge for 24 or 48 week placements.
