Course summary

The programme is designed to be flexible to meet the needs of the target audience and give students access to up-to-date management theory and practice. The qualification is part of a suite of management qualifications offered by the Chartered Management Institute who are the country’s leading awarding body of management qualifications. The programme has been developed to meet the needs of practicing managers and those who aspire to a career in management. The qualification links to the NVQs in management at Level 7 and form part of a professional qualification pathway for managers. The qualification has been designed with regard to the requirements of various MBA programmes, allowing the possibility of negotiating exemptions from such courses.

Modules

You will study a range of core units during this course. There are nine units in this qualification including: Personal development as a strategic leader Strategic performance management Financial management Strategic information management Conducting a strategic management project Organisational direction Plus 3 other units The course fee includes membership of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) who are the awarding body for this qualification.

Assessment method

All modules are assessed by coursework, there are no examinations. Some modules are assessed by an assignment based on the workplace, others are based on case studies or practical tasks.

Entry requirements

Although a Level 5 Professional Diploma in Management Studies is the principal entry requirement for this course, applicants with a relevant degree (e.g. Business), or with substantial senior management experience will also be welcome. You must have 3+ years full or part time employment (continuous voluntary/charity role could be considered too).
