Course summary

If you’re a producer looking for a course that will improve your skills, focus on career development and offer the ultimate flexibility of online study, then the BA (Hons) Creative Music Production degree course is for you. It’s designed to give you the perfect blend of artistic freedom alongside practical skills and strategies to develop your career. The 2-yr accelerated online course means you can work in a way that suits you. The course will help you reach your music goals and realise your full potential. It focusses on what’s really important – the creation of high-quality musical output. It's also fully online, giving you the ultimate freedom and flexibility to fit study around your life, not the other way around. As an audio producer, it’s all about developing the technical skills required to unlock creative potential. It’s also about working collaboratively and developing the confidence and ability to communicate what’s in your head. You’ll be able to access a wide range of content, resources and tuition to suit your individual needs. All online content from our full range of courses is accessible to everyone, so you can tailor your own learning journey. You can build your own music projects into the course, and you’ll complete the degree in only two years.

The degree is built on three fundamental elements – your music, your career and your projects. Throughout the course, you’ll hone your audio production skills, sound engineering techniques, compositional skills, and expand your creativity. You’ll develop a comprehensive career strategy and learn all about the realities of being a professional artist in today’s music industry. There are also regular online networking events, masterclasses, guest speakers, collaboration and work opportunities so you can build your all-important contacts list. Year One The first year of study focuses on developing well-rounded skills and techniques in audio production, sound engineering and composition, alongside an exploration of traditional and current music industry practice. There is also a focus on the development of a personal style and career strategy. Year Two The second year of the course continues to prioritise the development of high-quality musical output, with further focus on innovation in music, technology and business. As the course moves towards its conclusion, the emphasis is on the producer fully taking charge of the direction of their musical output and professional project work. Course structure and modules may change as part of our regular review processes. Any changes affecting students’ expected programme delivery are communicated in advance.
