Course summary

Our new Modern Languages Studies programme enables students to gain a modern languages degree in three years. Through studying a language and cultural modules, students will gain an advanced understanding of how languages are used in a range of professional contexts. Students will be able to focus on one, two, or three languages as part of this degree, enabling them to have an element of flexibility as well as the opportunity to try out a new languages that they may not previously have studied. The languages currently available are French, German, Spanish, and Chinese. If you don’t have the required qualifications for this degree-level course or are looking to re-enter education after time away from study, then a Foundation Year Programme might be the right choice for you. Qualification requirements

We allow you flexibility in meeting our entry requirements and accept a broad range of qualifications. We are happy to accept combinations of the qualifications listed above, as well as alternative Level 3 qualifications such as City & Guilds, Access and Cambridge Technical Diplomas. Level 3 qualifications can be considered in conjunction with another qualification in relevant Modern Language ( e.g. A level, or IB Higher). We also welcome applications from mature learners and/or those with other qualifications are considered on individual merit. If you cannot find the qualifications that you are studying (or have completed) listed above, please contact us for advice: [email protected] No Modern Language required for language-beginners' route. For those seeking to study Chinese: a demonstrable interest in, but no prior knowledge of Chinese required. If you don't think you'll meet the entry requirements specified, you may be able to gain entry to this course via a Foundation Year route. Please see: Modern Languages with Foundation Year (R808).
