Course summary

This generalist education programme has been designed to help those with experience in educational settings to develop their skills and knowledge and complement their current qualifications and experience with a BA (Hons) degree. Education has a fundamental role to play in personal, social and professional development. Through education, you can make a difference in the lives of many learners from different and diverse backgrounds. This degree offers you the opportunity to develop the professional knowledge, skills and understanding required to follow a career in education. You will become aware of the factors affecting learners' achievement so that you can promote continuous improvement and educational achievement among all students in a wide array of educational institutions. The course will also give you the tools to become a reflective practitioner and an independent, critical problem-solver. Within the course you will allow you to explore topical issues relating to education and society; and has been designed with current and previous students, school leaders and a range of education stakeholders to help design a course which will provide you with the skills needed in today's educational environments. The courses at University Centre Peterborough are studied in smaller class sizes compared with other universities, a typical class size is under 20 students.

YEAR 1 (LEVEL 6) Leadership in Education (30 credits) Professional Development & Reflective Practice (15 credits) Individual Needs and Educational Psychology (30 credits) Undergraduate Research Project in Primary Education (30 credits) Developing & Using Resources in Practice (15 credits) A typical 15 credit module is 150 hours includes 36 hours of tutor led delivery and 114 hours of recommended independent study. A typical 30 credit module is 300 hours includes 72 hours of tutor led delivery and 228 hours of recommended independent study. A full-time student should expect to undertake 30 additional hours per week during term-time.
