If you are unsure of the pathway in Computing that is right for you, then this course will offer you a great opportunity to gain a broad range of skills to prepare you for a job in the digital industry. We have designed this course to be flexible to allow you to complete this course either in the day or the evening utilising a flipped classroom approach. When on site you will be doing practical work with theory sessions that be completed on campus or wherever you find best to study. For day delivery you will onsite one full day with Evening delivery over two nights a week with additional online support sessions during the week to support you with your work. Within this course you will get the opportunities to develop software development, cybersecurity and networking skills, whilst exploring topics like the Internet of Things (IoT). You will gain knowledge and understanding of the range of careers available in this sector and receive opportunities to speak to our successful alumni as well as guest speakers from people working within the industry to guide you on your journey to employment or your next promotion. Recently badged as a Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ) the course offers a greater level of collaborative development to work alongside organisations like Cisco and AWS to allow you to gain professional qualifications alongside your studies. The Pearson BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Computing offers students a non-specialist ‘Computing’ pathway, which allows students to complete a Pearson BTEC Higher National Diploma without committing to a particular professional specialism. At Level 4 the course offers students a broad introduction to the subject area via a mandatory core of learning, while allowing for the acquisition of skills and experience through the selection of optional units across a range of occupational sectors. This effectively builds underpinning core skills while preparing the student for subject specialisation at Level 5. Students will gain a wide range of sector knowledge tied to practical skills gained in research, self-study, directed study and workplace scenarios.

A BTEC Level 3 qualification in Computing A GCE Advanced Level profile that demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subject or adequate performance in more than one GCE subject. This profile is likely to be supported by GCSE grades at A* to C (or equivalent) Students that have passed a recognised Access programme will also be considered. GCSE English Language and Mathematics A* to C, (or 9 to 4 where numeric grades are being awarded) Applicants who do not meet the standard entry criteria but have previous learning towards a degree-level qualification or relevant industry or life experience will be considered on an individual basis and may be invited to interview.
