Learn how to manage, protect and enhance our interconnected built and natural ecosystems with our BSc (Hons) Environmental Management degree Environmental Management is about understanding science and its relationship with the environment. The devastating impact of climate change, highlighted by Greta Thunberg and Sir David Attenborough, reveals the damage societies can knowingly and unknowingly make on our precious natural ecosystems. We’ve designed this course to help you understand the interrelationship between science and the environment, and learn how organisations use this knowledge to make decisions and considerations to improve their environmental performance. Develop in-demand environmental knowledge and skills Delivered across three years of study - or four, if you choose to include an industry placement, you will build knowledge in sustainability, natural resources, earth processes and the impact of people on places. As you progress, you will expand your subject knowledge and specialise in areas such as geographical information systems. During your studies, you will complete projects out in the field and in our laboratories. Fieldwork is integral to your learning, and trips are aligned with the modules so you can build applied skills and gain practical experience. Residential field trips take place in the UK and the European Alps. Typical day trip destinations include the Peak District, the Yorkshire Dales, Sheffield and Liverpool. Get closer to industry We’ve designed this course to open-up emerging career opportunities in sustainable natural resource management, development and planning, where you can help to reduce the impact of climate change and make a difference. On this course can develop transferable skills in writing and presentation skills, teamwork and project management skills, and experience industry collaboration through our real-world focused consultancy project module. You will also have the option to include an industry placement year between years two and three.
