Apply your passion and complete your training at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire – we offer drama school level training to mould you into a versatile actor and help you launch your career. Our BA (Hons) Acting is designed to develop you practically, personally and professionally and prepare you for this challenging industry. We have carefully designed a contemporary course that will train you for a creative career in front of a stage, screen or radio audience. You will receive specialist training in voice, movement and singing, graduating with the skill and aptitude to take on the exciting and dynamic world of the dramatic arts. According to the Guardian University Guide 2020, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire's acting and performance provision is in the UK's top ten drama schools (drama and dance category). This course equips you with the skills you need to become a professional actor; continually stretching and challenging you to reach new levels of personal achievement and self-discovery. As a vocational actor training course, full commitment and attendance would be expected. This course is based the School of Acting at Ruskin Hall in Bournville. The main deadline date for our Acting courses is 29 January 2025, 18:00 (UK time) - please note that applications submitted after the main deadline date will still be considered for the 2025 intake

Principal study options

During the application and audition process, you must select which instrument(s) you wish to specialise in for the duration of your course. On this course, you can choose from the following options:

Main specialism

Only one specialism is studied. It may be possible to study a further instrument, but this will not contribute towards the qualification.

Instrument/specialisms

For all courses, you must select at least one specialism from the 'primary' list. For those studying primary/secondary pathways, two instruments may be selected – one from the 'primary' list and one from the 'secondary' list. Joint pathway students may select any two instruments from either list.

Qualification requirements

Welsh Baccalaureate: 64 UCAS tariff points. Considered with three A Levels or equivalent level 3 qualifications. OCR Cambridge Technical qualifications: 64 UCAS tariff points. NCFE CACHE Level 3 qualifications: 64 UCAS tariff points. WJEC Level 3 qualifications: 64 UCAS tariff points. Considered with two A Levels or equivalent level 3 qualification(s). UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma: Pass overall Foundation Studies (Art and Design, and Art, Design and Media): Pass overall

Additional entry requirements

Audition

Applicants will be required to successfully pass an initial and recall audition.


English language requirements

IELTS Minimum overall score of 6.0, with no less than 5.5 in each band


Assessment locations

In the event of a successful assessment, applicants may be invited for a further interview prior to being made an offer.

Remote assessment recordings may be accepted in the event that you cannot attend an assessment in person.
