Course summary
This programme aims to develop the knowledge and skills of a Bachelor’s-level graduate Mechanical Engineering to Masters level through advanced teaching, design work and research. It provides an opportunity for candidates from a different Engineering background to develop key Mechanical Engineering knowledge and skills required for their professional development. A key objective of the programme is to be an accredited route to becoming a Chartered Engineer.

- Students study courses in Specialist Engineering Technologies and Failure Accident Analysis, as well as undertaking an individual project or dissertation which can be in collaboration with industry
- 3 optional modules are chosen from a range which includes Thermodynamics, Fluids, Advanced Mechanics of Materials, Dynamics, Flame Appraisal & Development and Engineering Manufacture
- Accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers
- High quality graduates have excellent career prospects - 95% of HWU graduates in employment within 6 months of graduation
Modules
Core modules are Specialist Engineering Technologies, Critical Analysis and Research Preparation & Failure Accident Analysis. Optional modules include - Engineering Design, Fluids, Advanced Mechanics of Materials, Dynamics,Thermodynamics, Flame Appraisal, Engineering Manufacture & Flame Development.
