Course summary

Law is concerned with the study of the obligations, duties and rights which every member of society has in relation to one another and to the state. The study of law is regarded not as purely vocational, but part of a broader education. Please note, however, that studying law within the BA degree will not qualify you for entry to the legal profession. For professional qualifications in Law students follow the LLB programme. Education is essential if you're hoping to study initial teacher education courses. We offer you the chance to develop knowledge of the education systems of Scotland and beyond, looking at issues including policy, social justice, equity and inclusion. Joint Honours Education graduates will be able to explore postgraduate routes into teaching careers (via the PGDE). Our BA degrees in Humanities & Social Sciences are initially broad-based. In Year 1, you'll study three subjects, including your chosen subject(s). Your Career Our graduates will have opportunities to work in professions associated with education, for example, in law, psychology, journalism, the Civil Service, and the Museums Service. A joint Honours degree in Education and another subject will qualify you to apply for the Professional Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) course, either primary or secondary.
