The purpose of BTEC Higher Nationals in Business is to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in the business sector and adapt to a constantly changing world. Year 1: Core: Business and the Business Environment; Management Accounting; Managing a Successful Business Project (Pearson-set). Optional/Specialist: Business Law; Operations and Project Management; Understanding and Leading Change; Global Business Environment; Business Strategy. Year 2: Core: Marketing Essentials; Human Resource Management; Management Operations; Research Project (Pearson-set); Organisational Behaviour. Optional: Innovation and Commercialisation; Pitching and Negiotiating Skills.

Assessment method

The course is predominantly assessed through the completion of assignment projects. Much of the study will require work outside of formal classes, so self-motivation and good time management skills are essential. As a guideline you are advised that a 15-credit unit approximates to a learning time of 150 hours. Two core units: one 15 credit (Level 4) and one 30 credit unit (Level 5) will be assessed by a mandatory Pearson-set assignment.
