Course summary
This intensive course is your fast-track route to becoming a Social Worker registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). You’ll balance an interactive study programme with practical work experience in a social care setting. You’ll be able to practise in your chosen field of children and families or adults, and across a range of areas – including statutory, voluntary, private and the independent sector. Study style You can study the MA over 20 months and the Postgraduate Diploma over 18 months. The course is assessed in a variety of ways, including assignments, exams and group presentations. On the course your learning experience will be dynamic, interactive and experiential. You’ll learn about all areas of social work practice with adults and children – acquiring your knowledge with a variety of learning styles. With emphasis on experiential learning, your studies will include working in small tutorial groups, simulations, role play and group work. Entry requirements
- At least a 2.2 honours degree or equivalent in a related subject, or a relevant level 6 qualification - At least three months' work experience in a social care setting, contributing to some understanding of social work - GCSE Maths and English and grade C or above or an equivalent numeracy and literacy qualification - An enhanced DBS - EU and international students need IELTS 7.0 overall (with a minimum of 6.5 in writing and in any other component) or equivalent
English language requirements
International students will need to produce evidence of an acceptable score on an approved English language test such as IELTS. We run pre-sessional English language courses to help you prepare for undergraduate or postgraduate study.
