Course summary

Course description Our-four-year BSc Human Resources and Business Management course, with an integrated placement year, examines the role of the individual in an organisation as well as aspects of organisational structure, culture and change that will prepare you for a successful career in HR. As organisations change, grow, divide, develop and operate internationally it is key that an organisation understands its staff and culture as it is central to their performance and effectiveness. This course considers how people, processes and structures interrelate. It focuses on the crucial part played by individuals and groups in organisational processes, such as decision making, planning and managing new technology. The course enables you to develop an appreciation of the central importance of human resource strategies for organisations. Human Resources and Business Management graduates are in demand from a wide range of organisations that are in need of managers who understand the human side of the business. Our recent graduates have been successful in securing roles at well-known companies such as Great Ormond Street Hospital, Mercer, Aston Martin and BMW in roles such as Medical HR Assistant, Talent Analyst, HR Consultant and Human Resource Management Co-ordinator. Modules

In the First Year, you will study a wide range of management related subjects, designed to ensure you have a broad foundation and knowledge of management. You will consider the economic, financial, human and legal issues managers deal with, and the tools and techniques they use. You will be introduced to the key areas of business as well as carrying out project work which will help draw together the subjects you have studied. The Third Year, or Placement Year, allows you to choose to work or undertake a study exchange to further your knowledge of your specialist areas. In your Final Year you will examine how changes in the external environment impact upon management.
