The programme will cover a broad range of computing topics that may be encountered in modern business. By completing this course you will achieve an industry-recognised HND, which will enhance your career prospects and your employability. During the course you may also have the opportunity to gain additional professional IT qualifications with further study. In the second year of your HND you will be able to choose from the following pathways: -Application Development -Hardware and Networking Computing: this pathway allows you to complete a Pearson BTEC Higher National Diploma without committing to a particular professional specialism. The programme will help you to develop a sound understanding of the principles in your chosen field of study and you will learn how to apply these principles more widely. You will be able to perform effectively in your chosen field and will have the qualities necessary for employment. The first year of the course will cover a broad-based overview of computing, which will allow you to develop wide-ranging skills and knowledge. The second year of the course covers a range of topics relevant to your chosen pathway: -Application Development -Hardware and Networking You will benefit from our excellent cutting-edge computing facilities, small student groups and extremely supportive, industry-experienced teaching staff. You will be expected to attend College for a minimum of 16 hours per week: two full days, or a combination of days and evening sessions. Our computing courses are delivered in small groups, by lecturers with a wide range of industry backgrounds. You will gain academic, technical and professional training, leading to the skills necessary to design, implement, support, evaluate or manage IT systems in a vast range of industries, with the aim of gaining interesting and well paid employment, or possibly continuing your education to BSc (Hons) level after completing your HND. On successful completion of the HND you will have the option to top up the qualification to a full Bachelor’s degree at university or enter employment.

Assessment is 100% assignment based. There are no formal examinations associated with this programme. Teaching methods include lectures, practical sessions, group work, tutorials and workshops. In addition, substantial learning resources and support material are available on-line facilitating home study.

We also welcome applications from mature students who will be considered on relevant work experience rather than qualifications.
