Course summary

A flexible, industry-focused programme, delivering advanced skills in chemical and process engineering for multiple industry sectors, including oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, food and environmental science. The MSc in Advanced Chemical Engineering is designed specifically for degree holders in chemical engineering, or in other related disciplines, who wish to advance their knowledge and skills and gain a higher qualification in the field of chemical and process engineering. The programme provides students and practising engineers with the latest skills and knowledge in a range of core areas of chemical engineering science, including design and practice, alongside opportunities to select from a range of optional courses in clean energy, process safety, management studies, and environmental protection.

How to apply

International applicants

Please note that international applicants for this programme require an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) certificate. The ATAS certificate must be obtained before applying for a Tier 4 visa. You can submit an ATAS application up to 6 months before the programme start date, even if the offer is still conditional. This course has a subject classification which requires students whose nationality is outside the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland to have an ATAS certificate, irrespective of country of residence at the point of application.

Entry requirements

The information below is provided as a guide only and does not guarantee entry to the University of Aberdeen. 2:1 (upper second class) UK Honours degree, or an Honours degree from a non-UK institution which is judged by the University to be of equivalent worth in Chemical Engineering or other related engineering discipline. Those with a 2:2 Honours degree in Engineering may also be considered if they can demonstrate 2+ years of relevant experience.

Tuition fees given are at the full-time rate. The part-time fee rate for taught postgraduate programmes is 50% of the relevant full-time fee rate.
