Course summary
We’ve designed this MSc course to give you the up-to-date knowledge and skills needed in modern digital technologies. It's for newly qualified or practising engineers who’d like to extend their knowledge and practical skills in the growth areas of mobile communications and intelligent embedded systems. 5G mobile communications and intelligent embedded systems lie at the heart of many emerging applications. These include:
- the internet-of-things
- connected and driverless cars
- smart cities
- eHealth
- virtual reality
- robotics
- smart manufacturing.
Modules
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2023/24. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to COVID-19, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum. We’ll make sure to let our applicants know of material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity. Core modules are taken by all students on the course. They give you a solid grounding in your chosen subject and prepare you to explore the topics that interest you most.

You should normally have a lower second-class (2.2) undergraduate honours degree or above.
