Course summary
The global energy crisis is at the forefront of many peoples’ minds, and climate change is accelerating and defining our race towards a net zero society. Our extensive industrial links and research expertise in renewable energy and sustainable technologies have led to the development of our Energy Engineering programme. The course has been designed to equip you with the knowledge and transferable skills to face the global challenges of energy supply security and sustainable development goals. Global energy demands have been rising over many decades, and this interdisciplinary course will put you in a position where you can contribute to the boundary pushing potential of both existing and new technologies across the energy sector. Now, with countries achieving 50% renewable energy production, we are entering an era of interconnected agile supply and delivery and the inherent vulnerabilities associated with this. You will develop your understanding of energy services, efficiency, environmental compliance, and sustainable energy technologies. You will benefit from our extensive facilities and experts in our Centre for Renewable Energy Systems Technology (CREST) , as well as developing knowledge from the key engineering principles of mechanical, sustainable manufacturing and electrical engineering. Throughout your first two years of study, you will be introduced to core learning and expertise to prepare you for a placement within an energy sector employer, if you choose this pathway. Alternatively, you will be ready to explore specialist pathways during the second half of your degree.
