Initially following the flexible structure of the BSc Environmental Science, this four-year integrated masters includes an additional year featuring an independent project of your choice. The course provides in-depth research and professional skills training. Environmental science is a vital, rapidly evolving and in-demand subject exploring processes, ecosystems and environments on Earth. One of the first degree programmes to be established in the subject, Sheffield remains at the leading edge of environmental science, with a blend of research-led teaching in the field and in the lab. Learning foundations in geography, earth science and biology, and choosing optional modules, will unlock a range of research specialisms such as global environmental change, conservation, sustainability and environmental quality and technology. This four year integrated masters course includes an in-depth research project in your final year. Accredited by the Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES) and the Committee of Heads of Environmental Sciences (CHES) until 2026, this four-year physical geography course with an integrated masters is a blend of field-based learning, independent research and technical training. With environmental science now a rapidly evolving, in-demand discipline, you’ll find there is no shortage of careers in industry, research, conservation and ecology – to name a few.   • We cover field trip costs - to ensure everyone has the chance to carry out fieldwork, all costs for the core residential field classes are met by the department. This includes the costs of travel, accommodation and food during your residential stay.
  • Fully accredited - the course is accredited by the Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES) and the Committee of Heads of Environmental Sciences (CHES) until 2026. That means our courses are high quality and provide excellent standards of professional development. Students are eligible to become student members of the IES – the first step toward achieving Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) status.
