Choose your own areas of philosophical study and research as you broaden your knowledge through classes, seminars, reading groups, lectures and guest speaker events. Possible topics of study include epistemology, philosophy of religion, moral philosophy, political philosophy, aesthetics, Buddhist and Indian philosophy, and cross-cultural philosophy. Modules

The MRes programme is structured into three individually supervised essays, an oral presentation, and a dissertation. Topics for essays and the dissertation can be chosen from any of the main areas of philosophy. As this is not a taught master's, there are no modules in the sense of prescribed units of learning. You will have the freedom to choose the subject areas in which to complete your individually supervised work. Possible topic areas include epistemology, philosophy of religion, moral philosophy, political philosophy and aesthetics. Check our website for more details about the course structure.


Entry requirements

IELTS: 6.5 overall with no element less than 6.0 (or equivalent). Entry requirements: Normally a good undergraduate honours degree (2.1 or above), or equivalent from a university outside the UK, in philosophy.
