Big data is big business. As technology continues to grow, digital business and data analytics are increasingly hot topics in business. With this programme, through highly topical subjects such as Artificial Intelligence and Data Mining, you can gain the knowledge and skills you need to excel in a range of business settings, studying both the latest academic research and industry trends in this dynamic field. By the time you graduate, you will be able to influence and make informed, data-driven business decisions, gaining highly versatile skills which are relevant for any industry. Like our other undergraduate programmes at Richmond, our BA in Business Management: Data Analytics is based on the American liberal arts tradition, which helps broaden perspective and develops practical skills which are highly appealing to future employers in a global economy. The vibrancy of London provides the ideal backdrop to study this subject – it’s the home of big business and entrepreneurial start-ups. In the first year you will study core modules introducing you to topics such as Foundations of Business, Functions and Applications and the World of Entrepreneurship which will give you a firm grounding of knowledge which can be applied to current business problems. In your second year you will build upon the fundamentals of business and explore more comprehensive areas of data analysis and digital business such as Computer Applications in Management. In the third and fourth year, you’ll be able to take your pick from topics which particularly appeal to you. Choose from highly current subjects such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Mining and Data Science, which will you provide you with skills and knowledge which are much valued in the workplace. Renowned and highly qualified business leaders are invited to speak to our BA Business Management: Data Analytics students, sharing their experience within the industry, while visits to organisations and events enhance experiential learning. Many of our students gain international industry experience through an accredited internship, which helps shape their education and career choice. You will have the opportunity to develop your entrepreneurial spirit through Matrix, a multi-disciplinary platform for students to seek guidance, test their ideas and develop their curiosity of launching their own business. Matrix has a core team including faculty, students, staff and alumni organising events and workshops for current Richmond students. On completing this programme, students will be able to apply for four exemptions (all certificate level) from The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the world’s largest professional body of management accountants, entering into their Operational Level. Modules
We offer 4-year Liberal Arts and Business BA degrees. Students entering with A levels or other level 3 qualifications usually gain exemptions from courses in the Richmond Core Curriculum which can mean that you should be able to complete your degree in less than four academic years. The interdisciplinary Liberal Arts approach offers not just breadth but also depth of study and encourages students to make sounds judgements and think independently. A Liberal Arts education is one which encourages you to explore a wide range of subjects and programmes. It reaches across disciplines, building connections between different academic areas such as literature, science, mathematics, writing, business and psychology. Upon entry to Richmond University all students study the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum before specialising in their chosen field.
