Course summary

This full-time PGCE Young People and Adult Learning course is perfect if you have a degree and would like to teach a specialist vocational subject area in the post-14 sector. You will have a passion for education and your specialist subject in particular, and will want to inspire young people and adults to enjoy learning about the subject. You will undertake a placement of 100 hours to develop your teaching practice in an education setting. As this course is full-time, it is intensive in nature and is intended for those who wish to study on a full-time basis. Once you complete this course you will be eligible to apply for QTLS, which is as highly regarded as QTS by employers.

Modules

Teaching, learning and assessment in education and training; Theories, principles and models in education and training; Wider Professional Practice; Developing teaching, learning and assessment in education and training. Elective modules: Inclusive teaching in specialist area; Developing and managing resources; Understanding and marginal behaviours; Supporting learners with SEN; Supporting learner's literacy.

Assessment method

Observation of teaching practice; Teaching portfolios; Written assignments; Presentations.


Entry requirements

Minimum 2:2 in the relevant Level 6 qualification.
