About the course The HND in Computing comprises 240 credits, of which 120 are completed at Level 4 (HNC) and 120 at Level 5 (HND). BTEC Higher Nationals provide a wide-ranging study of the computing sector and are designed for students who wish to pursue or advance their career in computing. In addition to the knowledge, understanding and skills that underpin the study of the computing sector, BTEC Higher Nationals in computing give students experience of the breadth and depth of the sector that will prepare them for further study or training. Students will be working with the latest technology to develop a sound theoretical understanding and in depth practical experience of the development, management and support of modern computing systems supporting key business functions. Assessment method

Assessment is through time constrained assessment, assignments work including essay and report writing, portfolio building, project work, oral assessment and presentation, group and individual work. All units are graded as pass, merit or distinction. Students must pass each unit to get the overall BTEC Higher National in Computing at the end of the programme. All assessments are delivered through a standard system, which makes the context and the assessment criteria clear. There are assessment weeks and grades accumulate over the year
