Current areas of research specialisation include: Models of state-dependent pricing; fiscal theory of the price level; fiscal-monetary interaction in stochastic, dynamic general equilibrium; credit constraints and the business cycle; open economy macroeconomic models; models of endogenous growth; determinants of corporate growth; high-technology clusters; trade secrecy; market efficiency in emerging markets; stochastic volatility models; monetary frameworks in developing countries; fast-growing small firms; intellectual property office under-pricing; real business cycle; foreign direct investment; tax evasion.
Modules
The PhD is a research programme. There are no modules as part of it.
Assessment method
PhD: Students are required to complete a supervised thesis of 80,000 words.
Entry requirements
Good UK instructional Master's degree (UK 65 per cent or better, USA GPA 3.6 or better, PR China 85 per cent or better) in a core area, or a cognate area supporting proposed field of research; overseas applicants whose 1st language is not English must, in addition, provide evidence of competence in written and spoken English: IELTS band 7; or TOEFL paper based 600; computer based 250; internet based 100.
