Course summary

This course is designed for students who would like to work in public services and for those who have an interest in entering the world of criminology and related public service employment. It will help you to understand how society functions, how criminals are conditioned to behave and the role of public services in a changing society. It will also look at how public services can use this information to be more effective in the fight against crime. You will finish with relevant theoretical and practical knowledge that enables you to progress to a relevant final year top-up degree. The modules studied may include: • Introduction to the Criminal Justice System • The Mind of a Criminal • Victims, Victimology and Restorative Justice Organisational Performance and Change • Ethics in the Balance. Progression Opportunities Upon successful completion of this course you can top-up to a full Honours Degree. Please note that there is a deadline for progression applications and places may be subject to availability. Many of our graduates have taken up employment in the public services sector including the Police, Fire and Ambulance Services, HM Forces, HM Prison Service and outdoor education and activity centres.
