Course summary
Carry out your own independent research project in classical antiquity within one of the top departments for Classics research within the UK, while undertaking essential training to support your project. You can complete your research project in any aspect of classical antiquity, as agreed by your supervisor. The taught component will allow you to develop your research skills and enhance your knowledge of ancient texts, language and the ancient world. Times Higher Education also ranked us in the top ten departments of Classics in the country for our performance in the latest Research Excellence Framework exercise 2021 based on research rated 4*.
Modules
Your research will be supported by three taught modules. You will study one core module: Research and Scholarship in Classics and Ancient History. You will also choose two optional modules from a range which typically includes: Greek (Beginner/Advanced); Herodotus and Ancient Worlds; Latin (Beginner/Advanced); Translation, Adaptation, Performance and Reception of Ancient Greek Drama in the Twentieth and Twenty-First Centuries
Assessment method
Dissertation.
Entry requirements
Entry usually requires a good (normally a 2.1 or above) Honours degree, or an equivalent qualification if you were educated outside the UK.
