Explore what is happening in the world around us - sustainability, injustice, poverty and diversity - and be prepared to challenge your existing views. Explore the rapidly changing world around you on this contemporary and dynamic course. You’ll study important topics such as migration, identity, sustainability, social injustice, cities and globalisation. As part of this course, you’ll:

  • Undertake local and international fieldwork
  • Go on a human geography related work placement
  • Conduct a major piece of research for your dissertation
  • Challenge your existing views and gain sought-after skills and new ways of thinking
  • Get involved in live research projects and community consultations

You’ll have the chance to study abroad usually for one semester in your second year and you can choose from a wide selection of universities. Popular choices include Macquaire University in Sydney, Australia and the University of San Diego in America. External visits Field trips will allow you to gain an understanding of how, for example, regeneration projects work on the ground, or as locations for conducting fieldwork to develop competence in practical research skills, etc. Projects involve carrying out specific tasks often involving field investigation, analysis, conclusions and recommendations.
