The way that we consume film and media is changing. The production, content and distribution of film is developing alongside advancing technologies in an increasingly networked culture. Film and Screen Media has a strong focus on developing your skills to prepare you for this constantly evolving industry. This course is a foundation degree but has the option for you to top up to a BA (Hons) in year three. The course is practitioner focused and its key ethos is preparing you for a variety of roles within the film and media industries. The three strands of the course are filmmaking, motion design and screen practices. The course is also designed to challenge you to think about screen in new and exciting ways that give meaning to an audience. You will be taught a range of techniques including traditional film methods, motion graphics, audio, 360° video recording, Video for VR alongside learning enterprise and employability skills relevant to the sector. You will be continually challenged and encouraged to pursue not only your career path but to explore your own unique style of visual language creation. All modules allow you to produce a diverse portfolio of high quality work. You will investigate issues currently affecting the media and respond through your own work. Film & Screen Media seeks to provide a broad foundation of knowledge and understanding that will make you a well rounded and skilled media professional.

Assessment method

You will assessed in a variety of ways including: practical tasks, portfolios, collaborative projects, industry briefs essays, case studies and presentations.
