Our Engineering BEng will prepare you for a career as a professional engineer at the forefront of high-tech industry, in both technical and managerial roles. You will gain extensive practical experience and skills, as well as a thorough theoretical knowledge. You can choose to add a placement year to gain additional, relevant experience. This course allows you to keep your options open while equipping you with all the analytical, design, programming and computing skills required for an exciting engineering career. Where the first year provides a broad curriculum, thereafter you will focus on areas aligned to the School's research interests. You will gain training in the key disciplines of mechanical engineering and materials science. In linking modules in low carbon energy, computer science and electronic engineering - you will be well placed to design our sustainable digital future. Further, by combining knowledge across all these subject areas, you will be able to create innovative solutions appropriate to a wide range of careers from mechatronics, robotics, data science, low carbon energy, automotive engineering as well as traditional roles in materials science and mechanical engineering. ‘Placement Year’ and 'International Experience Year’ options are available for this course. You will have the opportunity to fully consider these options when you have started your course at Bangor and can make an application for a transfer onto such a pathway at the appropriate time. We allow you flexibility in meeting our entry requirements and accept a broad range of qualifications. We are happy to accept combinations of the qualifications listed above, as well as alternative Level 3 qualifications such as City & Guilds, Access and Cambridge Technical Diplomas. Level 3 qualifications in the following subjects will be considered for this course providing there is sufficient mathematics content: Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Aeronautical Engineering. Similar subject areas and equivalent qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis. We also welcome applications from mature learners and/or those with other qualifications are considered on individual merit.
