The Early Childhood Development & Learning with Foundation Year BA (Hons) course aims to provide you with a solid grounding for building a career in early years provision. The strength of the course lies in preparing students, who are unable to follow the more traditional route onto a degree course in Early Childhood Development & Learning. Students who successfully complete their foundation year one will then progress onto the Early Childhood Development & Learning BA (Hons). Success in this field demands creativity, empathy, logic and a great deal of knowledge alongside the ability to draw upon life experiences. As no two days are the same in this industry, this course focuses on policies, processes, best practices and practical learning to help you understand the key fundamentals of child development. Entry requirements
Qualification requirements
Applicants who do not have Level 3 (A-level or equivalent) qualifications. We can considered on an individual basis provided that you have 5 GCSEs at grade 4 / C or above including English and Mathematics plus two years relevant work experience. Your application will be considered on an individual basis and the application is reviewed as a whole, which includes previous and predicted qualifications, experience, reference and Personal statement that outlines your motivation to study the course. The University also accepts the BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate/BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma and BTEC Level 3 National Diploma/BTEC Level 3 Diploma for entry onto degree programmes, provided that they are studied in combination with other qualifications that are equivalent to three A2 Levels. This may include subject specific requirements where necessary.
