Course summary

The BSc (Hons) Sustainable Horticulture Technology with Integrated Foundation Year degree is delivered at Pershore College which is known for its horticultural excellence. Course resources are excellent with a specialist Agritech Centre at Pershore where students can work on a smaller scale vertical farm for food trials; they can work in the hydroponic centre for growth trials; they can undertake laboratory analysis and learn to analyse data from field surveys using drone technology. The course will provide learners with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the contemporary horticultural industries which are undergoing considerable change. The changing global agriculture sector is meeting the challenges of production by means of digital, mechanical, and biochemical technological innovations, allowing producers to make informed decisions using sensors, communications, and data analytics. As the industry evolves it is important that students have a knowledge of robotics, advanced machinery, monitoring technologies and genetics, to reflect the automation of tasks now taking place in the land based industries.
