Kick-off your future in football: the world's beautiful game. Develop the skills needed for a career in elite football, focusing on individual player development and overall team performance. With integrated sports science disciplines, you'll be encouraged to develop the key skills, knowledge and experience required to succeed within the global football industry. Currently subject to validation with a first intake - our first team squad selection - planned for the new season in September 2023. About the course: Major themes to be explored include: performance analysis, anatomy and physiology, nutrition, strength and conditioning, talent identification and development, coaching performance and applied psychology Indicative Year 1 (Level 4) modules: -Introduction to Psychology -Fundamentals of Conditioning in Football -Theoretical Concepts of Football Coaching -Introduction to Nutrition for Football -Anatomy and Physiology -Introduction to Movement Analysis in Football Indicative Year 2 (Level 5) modules: -Work Placement -Coaching for Performance -Introduction to Media Application in Football -Performance Analysis -Introduction to Research Skills -Applied Sports Psychology Indicative Year 3 (Level 6) modules: -Injuries and Rehabilitation in Football -Talent Identification in Football -Research Project -Assessing Performance and Recovery: An Integrated Approach -Professional Development Portfolio within Football Footballing partners: Our Fast Track Sports Academy has very close links with Notts County FC, famed as the world’s oldest professional club and one of the 12 'Originals' - founder members of the Football League. This well-established club-college partnership provides our students with exposure to professional players, coaches and facilities. With competitive football at all levels - from the Premier League to grass roots - Nottingham's a great place to study, play and watch the game. Assessment: This will be industry-led, using a wide range of innovative and traditional methods, including: assignments, research projects, reports, presentations, work placement opportunities and practical scientific investigations. Qualification awarded: Level 6 Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Football Science (subject to validation). Bursaries We want to be accessible to students from any background, so we’ve put together a cash support package of non-repayable bursaries to provide financial help where it’s really needed. Progression and careers: Following this programme, you may wish to progress to postgraduate studies, including teacher training. A number of our recent graduates are now employed in the football industry in sports science support, player development and community programmes. Graduates work for a number of organisations including – Nottingham Forest, Notts County, Basford United, Nottinghamshire FA (community, disability), Nottingham City Council, UK Sport and Sport England. Football Scientists will be well-prepared for a wide range of careers, bringing vital transferable skills that many potential employers are looking for. Possible opportunities include: football coach, physical performance coach, performance analyst, sport scientist, development officer, exercise/nutritional adviser, welfare officer, community and engagement officer; or in talent identification and recruitment roles in a variety of professional football and wider sporting settings. Others may seek employment in education, HM Armed Forces, the public services, voluntary sector or in health promotion and wellbeing.
