Engineering is an evolving sector that needs engineers with a wide variety of knowledge and skills. Our Engineering course will give you the foundations, key principles and professional skills you need in modern engineering and related industries. Mechanical engineering is one of the most versatile fields of knowledge, study and practice with a wide range of great career options. From designing supersonic aircraft to microscopic robots, mechanical engineering has a major role to play. Assessment method
The programme uses a variety of assessment techniques to ensure that you can demonstrate the range of learning outcomes. Subject knowledge and understanding is assessed through examinations, coursework essays, coursework reports, individual or group presentations, written evaluations, debates and posters will be used as other forms of assessment. These also assess a range of transferable skills, including confidence in academic written communication.

240 credits at Level 5, either from a BTEC Higher National Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline (with a minimum of five Merit module grades) or a completed Foundation Degree in a relevant engineering discipline. We welcome applications from mature students over the age of 21 and may be flexible in our normal offer if you show a commitment to succeed and have the relevant skills and experience of working within the industry.
