Genetics is the most rapidly developing area of biology and this exciting degree enables you to explore the latest developments in the subject, while gaining a thorough grounding in the fundamentals of the discipline. You will acquire a solid theoretical understanding, gain knowledge of recent advances and expertise using relevant technology. Appealing to those with a passion for the subject, the programme embraces molecular, cellular and population genetics, alongside the evolutionary implications of these areas. Assessment method

Assessment is through a mixture of coursework and examinations tailored to suit the knowledge and skills required for each module. A wide range of coursework is employed which may include practical portfolios, project reports, individual and group presentations. Examinations include seen papers and open book assessments.

Other subjects will be considered if you have demonstrable interest or experience in genetics. GCSE Mathematics at Grade C or Grade 4 or above (or equivalent) is also required.
A level BBC - BBB Please note, the above represents an example of how you can achieve the required number of tariff points, however you can also achieve this with other combinations. A combination of A Level and BTEC awards may also be accepted.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) DMM Please note, the above represents an example of how you can achieve the required number of tariff points, however you can also achieve this with other combinations. Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017) H3, H3, H3, H3, H3 A minimum of five subjects at Grade H1-H3 will be required.

This includes additional qualifications such as the Welsh Baccalaureate and Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), AS Levels that haven’t been continued to A Level, and General Studies AS or A Level awards.
