Photography at Wirral Metropolitan College - UCAS

Course summary

The BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) qualification provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in the area of photography. You will learn about the various applications of photography, such as fashion, advertising and landscapes, using both film and digital platforms. You will research and discuss the work of key photographers and learn how to analyse their technique and style as well as developing your own photographic skills. Timetables of study and assessment calendars will be available in course handbooks, provided following enrolment. HND Photography students typically partake in classroom-based work two days a week. Class groups are expected to contain around 10-12 students, mixed of those studying both the HNC and HND in Photography. The HND is recognised by employers as well as providing a pathway for progression to degree level. Students are required to have a DSLR camera and an external hard drive. Course staff can provide further information and recommendations regarding specific purchases during interview. The course includes trips which students will be expected to make a financial contribution towards. Students will be required to meet the costs of printing and hanging their own work for exhibitions.
