Course summary

A number of our degrees are also offered with an additional foundation year (Year 0). Whether you are a school-leaver or someone considering returning to study but don’t have the entry requirements for your chosen subject, a foundation year course may be just what you’re looking for. On successful completion of the Foundation Year, students will be able to: Outline knowledge and execution of essential facts, concepts, principles and theories relating to computing design and evaluation. Recognise individual considerations in the field of computing in relation to various societal contexts: economic, legal, social, ethical, environmental, sustainability, equality, diversity, inclusivity, health and safety, commercial, legal and policy. Select from basic strategies and software tools to document/develop a computing problem in a systematic fashion and communicate solutions succinctly. Identify transferable skills for employment applied to a wide range of employment situations. Demonstrate effective communication, using discipline-specific vocabulary accurately to discuss ideas clearly, handling spelling, punctuation, grammar and numeracy accurately.  Foundation Year entry: A Levels: DDE; OR BTEC: MPP; OR ACCESS: Pass 45 Credits; OR 64 UCAS points minimum. English language for Level 0 - English Language Requirements - Canterbury Christ Church University as per CCCU Standard IELTS for UG Courses Those without formal qualifications may be considered on an individual basis. Those who do not meet the above qualification criteria, will be required to pass a formal interview conducted by UKMC. The interview process will be documented, and evidence of the decision shared with CCCU.

Additional fee information

Home (UK) Fees Home (UK) tuition fees for Foundation Years at Canterbury Christ Church University will be set in line with the maximum tuition fee cap for foundation years in classroom-based subjects or non-classroom-based subjects, as set by the UK Government. Home (UK) tuition fees for subsequent years 1-3 are currently set in line with the maximum tuition fee cap for standard undergraduate degrees set by the UK Government. The Government has announced that it will increase the tuition fee cap by 3.1%, in line with inflation, for the 2025/26 academic cycle. Subject to parliamentary approval, the University intends to increase our tuition fees in line with this and as per our terms and conditions. This means that from September 2025 onwards, our undergraduate home tuition fees for subsequent years of study are expected to be £9,535. International Tuition Fees (including EU fees Undergraduate tuition fees for International students are not subject to the Government’s regulations on maximum tuition fees.
