Assessment method
The assessment strategy is designed as an integral part of a rich teaching and learning context which aims to provide: 1. A well-structured knowledge base 2. An appropriate motivational context 3. Learner activity, including interaction with others 4. Self-monitoring. (Biggs 2003) In order to meet these aims, the assessments portfolio contains a diverse range of tasks and activities which will address differing learning and sensory styles including: formal examinations, individual self-reflection, individual and group written, oral and poster presentations. Furthermore students will engage with multiple modes for developing their assigned work and for its presentation. Throughout the course a range of formative assessment activities will be used to check a student’s or students’ understanding. These activities include feedback and questioning from in class activities, compositions of group blogs and Wikis which will also enable students to become familiar with the very latest communication tools and techniques, online quizzes and progress reviews with academic staff. Where appropriate the submission of ‘drafts’ will be encouraged for formative feedback. Assessment methods include Reports, Poster Presentation, Examination, Presentation
