Leeds City College have developed a Foundation Degree in Fashion Theatrical and Media Make Up in response to sector developments and demand to meet the needs of this exciting competitive creative industry. This course places priority upon the need with which to encompass the wide vocational, academic and professional skill sets and personal attributes that are required by employers, agencies and freelance artists, as well as to provide substansive opportunity with which to provide students with the opportunity to develop their personal professional and creative portfolios in order to enable students to promote and showcase their creative skills at industry focused events. The Programme has a strong commercial flavour providing a balance of academic understanding and practice. The programme uses a variety of teaching and learning methods to develop an understanding for the theoretical concepts found within the Fashion, Media and Theatrical Make Up industry environments, thus combined with experience and practice of methods and techniques applicable to current commercial practice and aiding students reflective skills in regards to their own theoretical and application of skill.

Additional fee information

Fees are charged per academic year. To support you with practical aspects of course, you will be required to purchase a professional make-up and hair kit which uses the highest quality and professional standard products from industry reputable brands. This would include the following items: Special effects, prosthetics and casting from PS composites Full editorial and fashion makeup kit from leading brands Lace front wig (worth over £300), wig and postiche making equipment and hair equipment from Treasure House of Makeup Airbrush kit and body art products from Airbase Pro brush set from leading cosmetic brush company To ensure that you obtain the best deal possible, for industry recognised professional branded quality products that will set you up in your future career, your kit will be ordered through the College. It is estimated that a full industry standard kit will cost in the region of £1400. As we recognise this is a lot of money to pay upfront at the start of your course, we have made arrangements for you to be able to apply for this cost to be added to your tuition fee loan from Student Finance England. If taking this option please note that your kit can only be issued to you once proof of your loan is received by the college.
