Key Features You will gain a deep understanding of babies and children from birth to six years of age and will gain the skills and knowledge to work with children and their families during their crucial early childhood years Early Childhood Education and Care includes a requirement of 525 cumulative hours’ work placement or experience in early education and/care settings over the two-year period of the qualification. The specialist modules are designed to provide a specific occupational focus to the Early Childhood Education and Care qualifications and are aligned to professional body standards. Unit 1 Personal and Professional Development through Reflective Practice Unit 2 Protecting Children in Early Education and Care Environments Unit 3 Play and Learning in Early Childhood Unit 4 Supporting and Promoting Children's Development (Babies and Toddlers) 15 4 Unit 5 Supporting and Promoting Children's Development (Young Children) Unit 6 Promoting Healthy Living Unit 7 Preparing for Research (Pearson-set) Unit 8 Promoting Inclusive Early Education and Care Environments Entry Requirements Entry requirements for Early Childhood Education and Care is 32 UCAS Tariff points. A BTEC Level 3 Early Years Educator (or related subject) qualification Related work experience Other related Level 3 qualifications A Minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above in English Language and Maths is also expected. Level 2 equivalents also considered. Mature applicants with other qualifications or non-formal qualifications are welcome to apply. If you are over 21 years of age, you will be assessed on an individual basis and may be asked to complete a short task to demonstrate the required level of knowledge to meet the demands of the course. This includes working in Children’s Centres, schools, nurseries, Social Services, Local Authority support teams, and charitable organisations. The course sets you up with a range of knowledge, skills, and abilities that will allow you to apply your learning confidently in your future career. On successful completion of the Early Childhood Education and Care qualification you may be eligible to progress into the second or third year of a subject related degree at a University, complete a higher-level apprenticeship, enter or continue in employment such as: Nursery Practitioner Play Worker within NHS Teacher (following further higher education study) Trainee SEN Worker
