Course summary

Electrical engineers design, develop and evaluate tools and techniques to produce solutions for real-world applications across a wide range of challenging and fast-growing industrial sectors. On this degree, you will prepare for a career in the broad areas of state-of-the-art electrical systems, power delivery mechanisms and architectures, computer aided engineering, applied industrial engineering and electrical machinery. You will exploit advances in sustainable systems, computing technologies and power electronics and develop the professional responsibilities needed to operate with confidence in the rapidly changing world of electrical engineering. Gaining fundamental skills in programming, mathematics, control theory, modelling and professional practice, you will graduate as a skilled professional with expertise aligned with the needs of organisations from a range of sectors, able to actively participate in, and manage, the design and development of systems.

Assessment method

You will be assessed through a combination of practical exercises, reports, essays, presentations and examinations. We want you to develop the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, therefore assessment includes both of these forms, though the emphasis is strongly on individual work.

If you have a minimum of two A Levels (or equivalent), there is no maximum number of qualifications that we will accept UCAS points from. This includes additional qualifications such as Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), AS Levels that haven’t been continued to A Level, and General Studies AS or A Level awards.
