Course summary

This programme is ideally suited to practitioners working with children with SEND and is offered to those who currently work within the children’s workforce supporting children, 0-25, with special educational needs or disability, who already have a Level 3 qualification. This programme will provide valuable knowledge of child development, the current legislative framework and explore current SEND reform. Essential elements of working with children will be studied including safeguarding vulnerable children, working in a multi-agency context, along with exploring the challenges of supporting and working with families of children with SEND. The programme is offered on a full-time basis and you will study Level 4 and Level 5 over a 2 year duration. There is progression available in the form of a top up to a full degree qualification BA (Hons) Supporting Children with Special Educational Needs and Disability following successful completion of this foundation degree. This Degree is validated by the University of Hull.

Level 4 – Year 1 Developing Child with SEND Personal & Professional Practice Observation, Assessment & Requests SEND Children’s Voice Safeguarding Vulnerable Children Level 5 – Year 2 Play and Supporting Children with SEND The Curriculum Managing Behaviour Working with Parents and Multi Agency Professionals Research Transitions Occasional changes to modules and course content may take place. Students will be notified when applicable.
