Assessment method

We understand that each student performs differently depending on how they are assessed, which is why we use a combination of assessment methods. These include: presentations, coursework, portfolios, role play and exam. In the early years of the programme you may be assessed for group-based team building and communication skills, whereas at Level 6 and in the final year assessments are mostly on an individual basis, including a work-based impact investigation. Your tutors will aim to provide assessment feedback within three weeks, and will happily discuss it with you one-to-one. This is particularly important as it gives you a chance to identify your strengths as well as the areas that may need further attention.

UCAS Tariff Entry requirements for part time students emphasise the ability to benefit from the programme of study and paid work experience as well as voluntary positions will be given consideration as well as academic evidence. What skills do you need to secure a place? We are looking for students with the potential to: Understand and critically evaluate the theory, concepts and principles that underpin the practical techniques of the business world. Demonstrate their understanding by communicating effectively, both orally and in their written work. Possess the self-discipline to manage their time and tasks effectively throughout their time here at LJMU. Entry requirements will be linked to personal circumstances. CPP or CTP (Certificate in Personnel Practice or Certificate in Training Practice) at NVQ level 3, A level, HNC, HND or other level three qualifications will be considered. Level of work experience will also be given consideration when making offers. Appropriate exemptions will be recognised for students transferring from other part time programmes or courses – these will be linked to our own standards and CIPD requirements and will be considered on an individual basis. ​Applications are welcomed from mature and non-standard applicants, who will be considered on an individual basis. These applicants may be required to submit an essay and/or attend an interview, and should demonstrate potential and motivation and/or have relevant experience.
