Course summary

Physical Education and teacher training at Brighton is highly respected, with a tradition of excellence going back over more than 100 years. In our most recent inspection we were rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted. The course leads to the award of Qualified Teacher Status, enabling you to teach secondary school pupils aged 11-16 in England and Wales. You will graduate with the all-round experience and knowledge to teach the National Curriculum for Physical Education (NCPE). At Brighton we have partnerships with over 600 schools enabling us to offer our student very varied school-based training options. You’ll also be able to work with children by taking part in inclusive festivals, team-building days, and outdoor adventure activity sessions. You will have access to excellent sport facilities and a course team have many years’ experience of teaching PE in schools. We offer a range of qualifications and extracurricular activities that you can take during your course. Don’t meet the entry requirements? The University of Brighton Sport BSc(Hons) with integrated foundation year provides an extra year of study at foundation level for students who do not hold the academic qualifications or experience required for entry to this course. Successful completion of the foundation year enables you to progress onto year 1 of this degree.

Please note that the £13,842 international fee is for classroom based courses and provisional for 2023. For lab based courses a higher fee of £14,892 applies. EU students will be charged international fees unless they have settled status awarded by the UK Government's Settlement Scheme. Further tuition fees are payable for each subsequent year of study and are subject to an annual increase of no more than 5% or RPI (whichever is the greater). The annual increase for UK/EU students, who are subject to regulated fees, will increase no more than the statutory maximum fee. The tuition fee you have to pay depends on a number of factors including the kind of course you take, and whether you study full-time or part-time. If you are studying part-time you will normally be charged on a pro rata basis depending on the number of modules you take. If your course includes a sandwich year option you will pay a reduced fee during this year; £1,370 for home students and £2,120 for international students.
