Course summary

This programme will provide you with the advanced skills and knowledge required to work as a technician in the mechanical engineering industry. You will gain an understanding of mechanical engineering which will enable you to develop processes and products from small component designs to large plants, machinery or vehicles. You will study modules that focus on areas such as project design, mechanical principles and engineering science. You will have access to our excellent engineering equipment including a CNC workshop, a 3D printer, manual lathes/ milling machines, CAD facilities, pneumatic test rigs and Programmable Logic Controllers. Entry requirements

Qualification requirements

Standard entry criteria: BTEC National Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering, or A-Level in maths or an appropriate science-based subject, plus an additional A-Level in any subject. Non-standard entry: Mature applicants (aged 21 years and older) with no formal qualifications, but with relevant industrial experience, are also welcome to apply. Additional requirements: Five GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including maths and science.
