Course summary
Holders of the BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma (Construction Management pathway) will have developed a sound understanding of the principles in their ‘specialist pathway’ of study and will have learned to apply those principles more widely. They will have learned to evaluate the appropriateness of different approaches to solving problems. They will be able to perform effectively in their chosen field and will have the qualities necessary for employment in situations requiring the exercise of personal responsibility and decision-making.
Modules
On this programme you will study the following units in the first year: Construction Technology, Science & Materials, Legal & Statutory Responsibilities in Construction, Surveying, Measuring & Setting Out, Individual Project, Construction Practice & Management, Construction Information (Drawing, Detailing, Specification), Financial Management & Business and Group/ individual tutorial. In the second year you will study: Group Project, Contracts & Management, Project Management, Management for Complex Buildings, Environmental Assessment & Monitoring, Personal Professional Development, Maintenance & Operations and Group/ individual tutorial.
Assessment method
Through written assignments, presentations and laboratory work.
