The HND in International Travel and Tourism Management develops both academic and vocational skills related to the travel, tourism and event management industry. It prepares students for employment in the sector or for a top‐up to a full honours degree at university. The Pearsons BTEC Level 5 HND (incorporating the Level 4 HNC) in International Travel and Tourism Management provides a specialist work-related programme of study that covers the key knowledge, understanding and practical skills required in the travel, tourism and event management industry. This dynamic and interesting course will give an insight into varying elements of the travel and tourism, events and hospitality sector. Course content will reflect the ever-changing tourism and events industry, with links developed with employers within this sector and in the wider business world. You will undertake varying tasks to develop your skills, both academically and vocationally, and will produce reports, presentations and other practical activities to demonstrate your abilities. The units you will be studying are designed to help you achieve your potential within future employment. The course content incorporates subjects ranging from events planning and marketing, through to finance and funding and current issues. You will have the chance to obtain further industry recognised qualifications, such as the Level 2 Personal Licence Course, alongside gaining first-hand knowledge of the industry through the input of guest speakers and the experience of visiting differing tourism and hospitality organisations and locations. Together with undertaking the core course units, you will develop your skills to a high level through:

Year 1: • The Contemporary Travel and Tourism Industry – to investigate the various elements of the travel and tourism industry and how they interrelate. • Managing the Customer Experience – to provide background knowledge and understanding of how travel and tourism businesses manage the customer experience. • Professional Identity and Practice – to guide through the process of self-assessment of skills and competences, personal career planning and the application of different learning and development approaches within a work environment. • The Travel and Tourism Business Toolkit – designed to provide students with the skills they need to become competent managers in a travel and tourism environment. give students the opportunity to develop their business acumen, • Leadership and Management for Service Industries – enables students to gain understanding of leadership and management principles, and to review their potential for a career in management in the service sector. • Managing Conference and Events – give students a background knowledge and understanding of the events and conferencing industry. • Global Tourism Destinations – provides students with an understanding of the scale, nature and development of tourism at a global level. • Marketing Essentials for Travel and Tourism – to introduce students to the principles of marketing, enabling them to develop a basic marketing plan Year 2: • Research Project • Tourism Consumer Behaviour and Insight • Developing the Event Experience • Corporate Events Management • Global Events • Sustainable and Responsible Management • Cruise Management

Along with an interest in travel and tourism, you will require one of the following qualifications to enrol on this course. Two A Levels grades A*-C, BTEC Level 3 qualification (Merit profile), Access to Higher Education Certificate. All applicants will require an initial assessment and interview by a member of the lecturing team. If you currently do not hold any of the above qualifications, but have wide ranging and relevant experience in the hospitality or tourism industries then, subject to interview, there may be enrolment upon the course. In other situations where the above qualifications are not held, the College may be able to offer you an alternative full-time course or apprenticeship to support future progression onto this course.
