Course overview: Employment prospects in public services are vast and varied, whether in the uniformed or non-uniformed area. This course integrates work-related experience and the academic knowledge required for a career in public services. It provides you with a recognised qualification which will enhance your opportunities for potential employment within the police and fire services, the armed forces, local government, civil service, education, prison service and ambulance services. The course will develop your knowledge and understanding of the relationship between theory and practice in the public services sector, and will introduce a variety of analytical approaches and current issues. Students studying on this programme may have the opportunity to gain additional qualifications including Basic Expedition Leaders Award (BELA), BCU (Canoe/Kayak award), Foundation Safety and Rescue, Stewarding Award, First Aid Qualification. These additional qualifications may vary. After the course: This programme will appeal to anyone who is either considering a career in the uniformed public services or who aspires to being involved in a management role in a public services-related career.

Entry requirements

Qualification requirements

40-48 tariff points from at least two A levels or equivalent. GCSE English and maths at grade C or above (grade 4 or above for those sitting their GCSE from 2017 onwards) or equivalent. The entry criteria is based on your ability to succeed and can be demonstrated in a variety of ways including appropriate training through work. All applicants will have the opportunity to attend an interview with college staff. Due to the course delivery location and visa restrictions, this course is NOT available to international students requiring a Tier 4 visa.
