Enhanced Integrated Care (Top-up) at University Centre South Devon - UCAS

Course summary

This course is a top-up to convert the FdSc Healthcare Practice degree (or similar) into a full honours degree. The course will enable you to strengthen your existing theoretical and practical skills that you have previously acquired at foundation degree level. During your studies you will consider a variety of different subject areas, enhancing your clinical knowledge and development and preparing you for employment in various roles and settings. Local employers have contributed to the course’s content, structure and delivery. This ensures that you graduate with the skills that are necessary to employment. The modules you study relate back to working practice, providing you with both theoretical and vocational skills that will prepare you well in your chosen profession.

Modules

Each module is worth a specified number of credits: you take a combination of compulsory (and if available optional modules) enabling you to cover key subject knowledge while developing your own interests. For full time students a total of 120 credits will be studied in the academic year. This will consist of four core modules and one dissertation and project module. For part time students it will depend on the intensity of your studies. Year One: Divergence in Health and Wellbeing - 20 credits Lean Healthcare and Clinical Effectiveness - 20 credits Quality Improvement and Patient Safety - 20 credits Generational Factors and Patient Engagement - 20 credits Dissertation and Project - 40 credits

Assessment method

There are two formal or summative assessed pieces of work for each module. Assessment methods can include written examinations and a range of coursework assessments such as essays, reports, portfolios, performance, presentations and projects. The grades from formal assessments count towards your module mark. In addition to formal assessments throughout modules of study there will be developmental (formative) assessments to support you with developing greater understanding of your progress. The balance of assessment by examination/test, coursework and practical depends to some extent on the optional modules you choose. The approximate percentage of the course assessed by coursework is as follows: 64% coursework 36% Practical
