Course summary

This MSc aims to equip students with the skills of analysis and design necessary for employment as professional civil engineers and give them a solid academic background for becoming chartered engineers. The Integrated Design route is for those students who want to further specialise in this subject, but also wish to improve their general background in other civil engineering disciplines. Modular (flexible) students - Some postgraduate taught and MRes programmes are available on a modular basis. Modular study lasts between 2 and 5 years. This is different to a part-time study which lasts for a fixed period.

Entry requirements

A minimum of an upper second-class UK Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering or a closely related subject, or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard. Applicants who do not meet the standard entry criteria may be asked to provide a portfolio demonstrating existing engineering and design skills. For non-civil or structural engineering candidates we offer a Graduate Diploma in Civil Engineering, recognised by our accrediting body (the Joint Board of Moderators), which can be used as a pre-qualifying year for the Civil Engineering MSc and its specialist routes. English level: Level 1
